Default DIC one gallon off

The gallons used on my '03 SLE DIC is always one gallon or more off. Which wouldn't be a big deal, but it throws off the miles till empty and fuel mileage too. Is there any adjusting or reseting of this? (I've tried disconnecting the battery a couple different times.) The dealership blew me off saying "it'* something you will just have to live with" - didn't make me very happy. What sensors inform the DIC? Is there any way to adjust or tune the DIC?

Thanks.

Marty

The dic fuel calculator is a best guess given your driving habits, octane etc.
I think the service dept was correct, there is no adjustment or calibration for it that I know of. Sorry.

There aren't any adjustments for the DIC. Your range is a calculation based on driving habits. If you want a more 'instantaneous' picture of your range based on your driving style at the moment, then hold the reset botton on the DIC while in Range mode until the display resets. From there your range will be recalculated and the number shown about 30 seconds thereafter is about as accurate as you're going to get.

People may also want to note the Reset in range mode when the DIC is only showing 'LOW' on the display. By using the reset the DIC will recalculate and display the expected range.

Cheers,

I usually take the average between what the DIC indicates & meter on gas pump indicates when filling up. It'* all just a close approximation of fuel usage. I normally put in between 15-16 gallons when filling the fuel tank.

That is odd that your DIC is so far off...

After the first fill up with my '01 SSEi, the fuel used meter has been within 0.1gal EVERY time and I've put close to 10k on it (countless fuel fillups). I record all of those stats at every fill up into a little calendar book that I have. And I always reset it at every fillup.
