Can a driver'* seat be rebuild for enhanced comfort?
I owned a 92 se for ten years and loved it. Just purchased a 2002 in April and love it as well except for the driver'* seat. The seat base you actually sit in is not as large as the 92,particularly it'* length. There is less seat supporting my legs. I still have the 92 and am considering taking it to the upolstery shop and ask them to rebuild my 2002'* seat base duplicating the 92 seat as much as possible. Is this a possibility or should I just get used to the 2002?

Interesting question? I got to try out a few diff years at the west coast bonneville fest and there is a difference from the old and new seats. I also have had my seat apart a few times for the heated element repair.
The one thing to watch out for is the side air bag if equipped. You will want to disable the air bags before pulling the seat.
The lower frame is the easiest part to work on, move the seat all the way forward to reveal two bolts that support the lower cushions. The backof the lower cushion just lifts out with a push upward movement.

I believe it can be rebuilt to your specifications.
On our family van, 98 Transport Montana, we had a problem with the seat super frame cutting through the cloth bolsters on the driver’* seat. When the upholstery shop rebuilt the seat I had them place extra padding in the bolster area and what a difference it made in support and comport for the drivers back. A good shop should be able to do the changes you are looking to do with the seat.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you.
