If all else fails you can get a computer reflash (depending on your year) which will disable the rear 02 DTC check.

Thanks for the help. I am logged in under a new username with a signature now. regarding a computer reflash: I currently have the car at a dealership service dept.--Are they able to handle a reflash or is it something I can learn about?

They have told me that the CAT itself is bad (but it is brand new). I installed it myself and created the prblem by not using the 50 state model . After almost $2500 in a bunch of front end parts, new tires, new motor mounts, etc. I got cheap on the cat and can't get a sticker !! Bummer!

Long shot but … could the cat have been installed backwards? (look at flow direction arrow)

Scott...I'm confused in the first post you had a 2001 SSEi and it turned into a 2003 SSEi in your sig.

Either one though should be fine with a magnaflow cat if that'* the brand you used. I'm currently running one with no trouble from the O2'* at all.

Where in Mass are you? I've got a scanner and we could look at what is going on.

Ummmmm, It'* a 2001 ( I got married in '03 ---my brain is working backwards). I'll change my profile. The current codes indicate that the cat has poor efficiency.
I am near the Rhode Island Border. Hartford CT is 1.5 hours. Right now I am installing new rear shocks to tighten up the rear end, and then I'll be back to the CAT and emissions issue.

I'm in Franklin, MA....About 1.5hours to Hartford CT. I have given up on the CAT I have installed now, and heard some low prices for magnaflow units. I will purchase the Magnaflow and install soon. Ferullo0 (member) is also in Franklin. Maybe we can make a day out of this and discuss some front suspension mods for my future projects.[/b]

MagnaFlow Oval Catalytic Converter 2.5" - 94006

check that one out... I just purchased the same one from that store about three weeks ago for our '03 SSEi.

If you do go with that one.. submit a best offer of $50.00, I did and they accepted with free shipping
