Default Climate Control constantly reading 76* ext. temp

Ok, strange thing. I took my car to the car wash and everything was working fine. On the way home I noticed that the fans weren't blowing very hard and the external temp was reading 76. It'* EASILY 90 and humid out. I'm thinking maybe some sensor just got wet and it will work again once it dries out, but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas? It'* under warranty but I would prefer not to have to through the hassle if I don't have to. Thanks in advance!

External Temp sensor is usually attached to the center support for the radiator. Unplug the connector and dry it and the receptacle, plug back in and see if that helps. May as well check the wiring to the connector, as well as the sensor itself, to insure something at the car wash did not damage them.

It'* not that unusual for the outside temperature sensor to indicate lower temps after going through the wash. (cool water) After driving for a while it should return to indicate true ambient temperature.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I just got back from taking my wife out to dinner and for the first 5 minutes of the drive it was the same as before..stuck on 76*. However, without warning, it suddenly started climbing like a chimp until it settled on a nice, uncomfortable 91. Apparently something just got wet. I've never noticed this before after washing, but thanks again for the radiator info. I'll take a look just to be sure for the future.

Congratulations Mark! I hope when I have kids that they will be able to go. I am merely a lowly sub-alum but a life-long die hard fan nonetheless. If you get any extra tix...shoot me an email

I'm not sure there are any problems. The ambient air sensors seem to be slow in response to temperature changes. I notice sometimes on mine also.
