Ya, if you're 5'5" or less.... the Grand Prix should be just fine.

I'm 5'9" and still have tons of headroom!?!? My roomate is over 6' and fits just fine in my car. You'd have to be pretty tall IMO to not fit. But yes, a GP is smaller than a Bonnie, that is a given.

If you are looking for a GTP...try to get a 99 or 00. They seem to be the best years of the 97-03 body style. Starting in 01 GM started getting cheap. They took out the automatic dual climate control and performance shift button on the shifter. The '03 seem to have different interior pieces and different PCMs.

As for interior room...I think I have more interior space on my GTP than my SSEi. (I'm 6'4".) The passenger side is definately smaller on the SSEi.

Just my 2 cents. :)

I used to own a '97 Grand Prix GTP 2Dr coupe[when Pontiac first came out with the S/C'd 3800,upgraded 4T65 HD transmission[complete with the,now no-longer-in-existence ,performance shift button/feature),magnasteer,and the Totally redesigned Grand Prix.....I pretty much RAN down to the dealership and ordered one],I drove the car for about 6 years(great car,NO regrets),....then the Totally redesigned Bonneville SSEI caught my interest[once again,IMO,Pontiac designers hit a home run(out of the Stadium...onto the street!!)],and I figured I just Had to own one(three years later...NO regrets,GREAT car),............I must admit, going from the Grand Prix to the Bonneville SSEI is like going from night to day,.......the SSEI is a better car,IMO,in every way(except Slightly slower in the 0-60,0-100,quarter mile......which doesn't mean Crap to me),......the leather seats in the Grand Prix were like they were made out of cardboard and padded with styrofoam compared to the SSEI's leather seats,.....the ride in the SSEI is WAY smoother and more comfortable[sits on the same chassis a the Caddy Sedan Deville....only tuned for better handling]than the Grand Prix's was,....the Stabilitrak system on the SSEI is almost undescribable,.....an awesome safety feature that I ,now, wouldn't own a car/vehicle without a system like it).Anyone who tells you they would rather drive a Grand Prix than a Bonneville SSEI.........is probably lying to you(or else has never driven a Bonneville).........trust me!! 8)

Referencing the comment above about a lack of reviews on the SSEi possibly meaning that most owners are happy with them, try to remember that 5k or fewer were produced each year. Production was quite limited.

I agree that the seats in the Bonneville are VASTLY superior to the GP in comfort and support.

i have notice that anyone over six foot is cramped in the passenger seat though.

My GTP coupe is the only car I've ever driven that I don't have to scoot the seat all the way back. I drive with it all the way back in my Bonnie, but not my GTP, but keep in mind that it is a coupe. The Bonnie is my favorite though, much better car IMHO.

BTW - I'm 6'3" and comfortable in both cars, but the Bonnie is the most comfortable, and has more room for speakers than the GTP.

They each are great cars and each have 3.8's! But umm are 00-05 Bonnevilles are on the H-Body which is the same as the Seville, Lesabre and Olds Rora! ;) Deville/DTS rides on a G-Body which is very similar but the H is a wee bit sportier! ;)
