Bonneville VS Grand Prix
Hi, I may need to find another car since my 00 Bonne was totaled in an accident.
I am thinking about Grand Prix GT or GTP. I am looking for a GP intead of a Bonne just because GP is easier to find and a little samller (may handles better I assume). Have a couple questions, 1. How similar is Grand Prix to Bonneville? Do they share exactly the same engine, tranny and body type? I know the SE version GP has a smaller engine but that is out of my concern. 2. Does Grand Prix has the same common problems as Bonne? Such as the intermidiate shaft, the intake gasket, the window regulator, the wheel bearing, the pressure control solenoid, the leaking trunck and doors? Wow, I know so many problems but I still love the Bonne :D ! Thank you for any input...... |

#6 is yes for the trunk

window motors and wiper motors are known to fail as well. door panels are loose and make noise on the 97-03 generation.

This has to be my favorite
I bought a 2000 Bonneville SE in Oct 2004 with 28,000 miles. At 30,000 the transmission fell apart and had to be replaced. Also notice not many reviews for the SSEis...must be happy ppl. |
I would get the extra room and a rarer vehicle... Might I suggest an Bonneville SLE from 2005? We need another one on the club! Best looking aside of the GXP and they have the good ol 3800 Series II in them and are great on gas! ;) After all I am biased but eh I love mine...

I am aiming at 00-02 GP or Bonne 60 - 80k, less than $8,000. |
