Default Bench seat to Bucket Seat

Don't know if this should be filed under "Brainstorming" but here goes anyways...

I have a 2002 SE with the BENCH seat configuration. (shifter on the column, arm rest that folds up for additional seating, etc). I am interested in what it would take to "convert" it to bucket seat configuration. I know I would need two bucket seats, the center console, and all the associated parts for it, but the one area I am concerned with is the shifter. I was thinking of doing one of two things:
1st, relocating the actual shifting mechanism to the new cetner console, or
2: leave the shifting mechanism on the column and make use of the space where the shifter would normally go in the center console for something audio/video (or other) related.

So I guess what I need to figure out is wether any of this will be possible and associated costs. I guess I am going to need part numbers for the seats, and center console, and seperately if possible the shifting mechanism.

Do you guys think this is worth it, or just a crazy waste of money?

Thanks!
(Admin: move please if this is in the wrong thread)

To tell you the truth, you would be wasting a lot of money unless you could salvage all the parts real cheap and do all the work yourself.
I think you need to trade up to an SSEi to be truly happy.

Why not? That'* $600 you could put to the engine. You're getting into A LOT of work, a custom console would be easier.

well, with the bench setup there is very little room for a custom console of any kind. If you need a pic to see what we are working with lemme know and I will snap one later today.

I meant a bucket seat/custom console configuration.
