Default airbag light sighting

On the way home from work I played a get the fl_lck out of my way tune with horn for a stubborn doe. About 10 seconds later my guage chime came chimed and the airbag light was lit up. It stayed on for the rest of my journey but was not on when I restarted the car. Any thoughts???

This is a 2003 SE.

It was just getting ready for that deer.

Kidding.

I suppose you jarred something into a fault state momentarily, and it needed an ignition cycle to reset the airbag system. You may want to check the connections to the driver'* airbag in the steering wheel.

Disable the airbags per the FSM procedures before removal. <-------safety warning

Silver, it looks like you might have answered your own question if I'm understanding things right. If it crops back up, give a shout.

any body in the pass seat at the time?
I had a loose conection under m pass seat and whenever someone sat there
after a while it would read check air bags.
also when ever something rolled under that seat.
Ha ha I still have that problem.
now that I think about it. happens more in very cold wheather.

The SRS connectors (yellow) under the front seats as most connectors in the car have a positive engaement when you make them up. They also have those locking pins so to speak to prevent connectors from coming loose.

nobody else was in the car

I'm almost certain this has something to do with the horn. I'll recreate this scenario (deerless) and see what happens.

So I laid on the horn and was able to get the airbag light to come on again. This proves that the light has something to do with the horn. The airbag is in the wheel so hopefully I dont get a face full of airbag some day honking my horn. weird
