Default Shes back!! after close to 3 month...

My car was running rich since october, we (me, foghorn and his friend Jerry)
were trying to find out what can cause this rich conditions.

My scan was : (since october)

-Too rich
- Spark advance reaching 7 even 5 as soon as i touched the throttle but
keeping 25 at Long term fuel so it was causing a loss of power.
-Bad gas cap
-MAF *new* (on the last scan yesterday)

I begun in october with the O2 sensor wich fail, but cant be bad to change it.
After i tried the crankshaft sensor in beginning of december, i was still having trouble,

i was getting 13 miles per gallon,...yes ....something close to a Dodge Viper.

finaly we had time to rescan it yesterday and do the case learn for the crankshaft sensor .(the scan were made by the friend of Foghorn)
With the result, i decided to get a new gas cap and tried it today.

After the install i was still getting 25 at the long term fuel, wich is the maximum.
So Jerry decided to give a try to wash the MAF and the IAT by the MAF screen.
and then retired the MAF and wash it very clean.

And BAM!! he reset the long term and short term fuel and after only 5 minutes results begun to be positive. Everything was fine, 0 long term and 0 short term at WOT .

and my spark advance was good too, getting a little KR wich didnt help the spark... 3-4 KR sometimes at WOT.

I feel like i get my car back after 3 month. first time i can hold it at WOT since october.

So thats it, only my Motor mount need to be replace now, I want to do a solid motor mount, can only hockey puck can be used?

So thats it, i practicaly forgot how fast it was (stock civic was able to follow me...)

P.*. Thanks to Paul (foghorn) and his friend Jerry, without their help it would cost me 10X more to get it fix.

Mike

I've never known what the fuel trims meant. So, the lower the number, the better.

It sound like your problems were difficult to narrow down. Good job hunting them down.

+- 5 is good for short and long term fuel trims. The more positive it is then the leaner the PCM thinks the car is so its adding fueling. Negative trims means the PCM is pulling fuel as it thinks it is to rich. The PCM can accomidate up to +- 17 or so but obviously the closer to 0 you are the better your tune is.

They are cruising between like 10-20 on normal driving, but at WOT "0" is perfect.

And mine were locked at 25 anytime.

I dont really know how it works, but i know 25 is not good

Nice work to you and Jerry getting that all solved. It just goes to show that sometimes when it'* difficult to guess the problem, by just going through the process of checking certain things you can solve a lot of problems.

How did you like using the DHP PowrTuner to do the CASE Learn? Cool not to have to go to the dealer for that!

Enjoy the car Mike...

Cheers,
