Default 28 MPG?

Took a drive up to Boston today to visit my grand mother. Anyways on the way up (just filled up) I had an average economy of 28.4mpg and that was all highways but at speeds mostly around 80mph. On the way home we hit some traffic, and it dropped down to around 27.6 (still nothing to complain about). However I've NEVER had this great gas mileage ever before with it, not even in my GTP. This was the first day it has been above 50 here all year, I'm wondering if that has something to do with it? Any thoughts, and believe me i am not complaining at all!!

Its mostly forward momemtum and aerodynamics at those kind of speeds. Once nearly 4000 lbs on metal and plastic is moving, not my fuel is needed to work that engine more.

Just wait until you put headers and rockers on it I was getting 34 in the 75-80 range.

However, I hear if you leave your IAT sensor on your tranny you get 40mpg...but don't quote me on that...

Hey that was me!!! You saw the IAT on the tranny Rogue

Went from stock engine, with only new Delco plugs and taylor wires... Realistically got 20-25 MPG, running 89 octane.

On 93 octane, with a new Mandrel bent intake pipe, cone filter, I managed 121 miles on 3 gallons of gas in michigan heading to Jim W'* place. Later we noticed the IAT on the tranny, which might have contributed to it for a bit, as the engine was getting very good air, when it thought it was getting atleast 150* air. This is with the borrowed, crappiest cone filter i've ever seen, let alone used.

70 MPH is the optimum for my 3.06 geared car. Basically whatever has full TC lockup around that speed.
