Default 2002 SSEi Question

I recently picked up a 2002 SSEi (replaced a 98 SE that Hurricane Charley ate) with about 30K on the clock. Can I expect the steering shaft problem on this car that I have read about here? Thanks

This is not a for sure thing. I have over 120,000 on mine and no steering clunk, I have replaced 3 wheel bearings and 2 rear window regulators but no steering issues so far.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on the wheel bearings.

Default Steering

Well, I have an '02 with 17k+, and am waiting for the part to come in, under warranty of course. For some reason, the steering barks every now and then, too. Hasn't been consistent enough to get at, though.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your car :( and hope you had insurance to help out. I have an 02 SLE with 17K on it and have not had a steering issue. I also went thru Charlie, Francis and Jeanne . the only damage was to the house and trees . The car was in the garage.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, Brumay, the 98 Bonny wasn't the only loss. My house bit the big one lost half the plywood off the roof, along with about 1/4 of the trusses-think a tornado hit it. The 67 Goat got some minor damage when the garage ceiling came down on it, and the 95 TA, which was perfect, got nailed on every panel and every piece of glass by flying shingles. But I guess that'* the price for living in paradise.

You call that paradise.
All I have to put up with is 5 months of rain, then 7 months of sunshine with year round air conditioned temps.
