Default 2000+ Bonneville SSEi Cabin Filter

Maybe you guys with 2000+ Bonnevilles can help me out. I went to change the cabin filter and it was just laying in there, unsecured with no rubber or a bracket. Guy at a shop told me that the filters were supposed to have a rubber gasket around the filter to fit in there right. Could someone shed some light on this issue giving any information as to what I need i.e. filter with rubber gasket or something on the car itself. GM part numbers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The GM number (GM Parts Direct):

GM PART # 25654414 (or CF117)
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1 CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $24.45
OUR PRICE: $14.64

The WIX Filters quivalent is #24812 and is available at most auto parts stores for $24 or so. By the time you add shipping to the partsdirect price, it is about the same.

Jay, does your filter have a rubber gasket of some sort surrounding it (the filter)? And where can I find Wix products? Thanks.

i recently replaced my filter and it did not have a rubber gasket. When you slide it in, there should be a plastic clip on the right side that holds it in place.

The filter has two folding sections that are separated by a crease in the filter element(one section bigger than the other),...it fits into the plastic bracket that is already there(or at least it should be there)attached to the cabin air intake plenum,.....you slide the larger part of the filter straight into the bracket,,and the smaller part folds downwards and into the bottom part of the bracket.....

I don't think it has a gasket. Around here, Autozone carries Wix filters. Others might, too.

Ok, I bought the part at the dealer yesterday. It is a whole plastic bracket that holds the cabn filter in place. Then the bracket with filter slide into place, locking onto mounts. Before there was just a filter sitting in there. :? Thanks for the help.
