I've got problems with the drivers side seat heater in my 02 SSEi. A little over a second after I click the button to turn it on, I hear a faint click and then the heater power indicator light turns back off. The passenger side heater is working fine. Does anyone have any ideas where I can start troubleshooting? Thanks!

it could be a bad heater....I've heard they are cheap though, it could also be a bad switch ( I doubt it) you can swap the switches around, they are fairly easy to remove.

Someone on here replaced the elements I believe for the same issue. $80ish is what I remember from the dealer but I could be wrong.

OK, thanks guys. But none of those really tell me how to actually test if an element is bad or not. How is that accomplished?

I guess you could use these schematic diagrams and do some resistance and voltage checks.

As you've likely read - you have the classic symptom for a bad heater element.

Ya, it'* the heating element.
I bought a new set. Yes you have to replace all three elements. Big job.
The elements cost me $200........and they're still sitting on the shelf.

If you get a cold arse, just go sit in the passenger seat.

Even though for about 120 bucks you get ALL the elements to replace..........all you need to replace is the actual seat bottom element(*). The switch is never bad. The relay box is checked by swapping with the passenger one. It is located under the bottm of the seat. held in place by two screws.

I just called the Pontiac Dealer here. The parts dept. told me it would be $117 for the heating elements for one seat. He gave me a part # of 25730797. Does that part # ring a bell?

You have to replace all three elements because the connections are different.....at least they are on mine. :?
