Default 02 Benneville Stalls out

My vehicle will stall out at various times for no reason. I took it to my mechanic and he ran it but found no code. I read that it may be the MAF and that I should disconnect it and if was bad it should resolve the issue. I did that and it has not stalled today. However it now appears that the temp on the vehicle is running high. Is that normal considering that the MAF is not connected. Being that it appears that was the initial problem I am not going to replace it, but do I need to go ahead and reconnect it until then. I read that it should not cause any problems other than a loss in fuel economy. Can anyone please advise.

You can drive without the MAF connected. However I suggest plugging it back in to see if the problem comes back. If it does, then again unplug it and see if it goes away. A MAF is not a cheep item, so you want to make sure it'* bad before replacing it.

When driving with the MAF you will want to drive easy. The engine is running off of tables instead of live data.
