Default '01 Thermostat replacement

I used to have a Grand Prix NA 3.8 motor and have moved up to the SSEI SC motor in my '01. I'm running hot and need to replace the stat. My question is this:

Will the instructions in a Haynes manual for a Series II 3800 motor from a Grand Prix GT be the same when it comes to replacing the thermostat for a Series II 3800 SC motor in an SSEi?

I appreciate the help fellas!

I changed my t-stat about 3-4 weeks ago, and the guys here pointed me to this post:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ght=thermostat

But, that post pointed me in all the right directions. Hope it helps you too.

EDIT: I would imagine the N/A and the SC are about the same procedure. I don't own an SC *jealous*, but the procedure shouldn't be much different than your GP you previously owned.

Default T-stat

Well, everything went well. Thanks for the input. I replaced the stat in about 5 mins but noticed that the coolant was pretty low. Since I already had my hands dirty I decided to go with a complete flush and fill. Maybe someday GM will put the drain plug for the radiator in a place that is more conducive to draining! Anywho, she'* running cool as a cucumber now. Thanks all!

You will need to have your fan points changed otherwise you will only notice cooler running at highway speeds.

What do I have to do to change my fan points? It seems to be running fine but I don't want to mess anything up either in the long run.
