01 SSEi with dashboard rattle

RIP
True Car Nut
My friend'* 2000 has a rattle in the dash near the windshield, only in cold weather. If you press the dash just the other side of the light sensor on the windshield side it stops. That has been the extent of my investigation.

I also had a mysterious rattle in my dash. After nearly pulling my ears out, I figured it out. Apparently when someone replaced hvac filter they didn't get the part on the bottom into the tabs. Might be worth checking.

My 01 SSEi is very quiet although once in a while I hear a rattle/squeek. I once thought it was coming from the rt. upper side of the dash. Then I found it was the do-everything inside rear view mirror. The two halves rub against each other and on cold mornings it makes intermittent noise. If I press on the two halves I can make the sound go away. My plan, if I can ever get to it, is to remove the front side and apply a small bead of black silicone sealant around the edge, then press the two halves back together. That should do it.

I had a similar noise and found out it was the cabin filter (which just so happens to be near the passenger side dash). It had come a little bit loose. Pushed it back in securely and bam...no more rattles.

Funny ! I recently started to get the same dash rattle problem as described earlier in the center of the console towards right side between the vents and the air bag - mostly during cold weather. It started when the weather turned colder and is annoying. The car has 78k miles. Why would this thing all of a sudden start to rattle? Broken plastic attachement or connection???
Any ideas?

Squeak
I have a few different rattles and squeaks. Most of them are only noticable on really rough roads. Two come from the glove box latch and go away when I press or smack the glove box door. Another VERY annoying sound comes from the front-passenger side door and one comes from the area of the steering colume. But after six years and 100K, I figure its due a couple of squeaks.
