Default What'* your gas mileage?

Hmmmmm..
What is peoples average gas mileage?
If we do a spread sheet by year model, and modifications,
we can see just what to maybe expect from our cars.
I'll gladly do up a spread sheet with the results....
and add it to Tech Info, if that'* OK with the management....

Rules are simple.
To get a real... (not inflated #)
Divide mileage by gallons used for the MPG

    Lets do this seriously.

    Ummm..... I did.

In plain English, The Search engine .....sucks!
and I'm not the only one that thinks so.. look up .."LN3 Rockers"....
    if it can be searched...

    1) Only allows viewing one post at a time, and you then have to re-enter the search,
    either by retyping it,
or by using the "BACK" button, which gives an error ( Page has expired) the instant you leave it,
    and then the "REFRESH" button,
    and then, the "Retry" button
to get more, items of no relevance, to the search question.

    2) When scrolling down to bottom of the results page, and clicking "NEXT" I get:

    General Error
    Could not obtain search results
    DEBUG MODE
SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax.
Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version
for the right syntax to use near
    ') AND t.topic_poster = u.user_id AND f.forum_id = t.

    3) It reports that it returns 4675 hits (supposedly) and only two on the first page
have anything to do with mileage. One of them is this post,
the other is the "guy on the goKart" movie.

    4) I did see two other entries somewhere though, people posted their mileage,
seemingly, in response to someone elses question.....
and someone other than you told them, to "do a topic search" ...too!

The top entry for "What'* your gas mileage"

is...... Randman1'* ..... "Porting and polishing of heads"...
followed by at least 17 replies on the subject of porting. Half of those, were Kudos.
and that was just the first of three pages, for the topic.
What has that got to do with the searched topic?
They didn't even mention, the mileage factor.

(This post, didn't make it to #1, and it matches the search syntax exactly!)
The object of a search engine is to return posts, that are relevant to the search topic.
this engine, isn't even in the ballpark.

And I'm no newbie at search engines.
I was a webmaster for a foreign car site for better than five years.

Correct. "Search for all terms" must be checked if searching for 2 words or more. And you can narrow your search by forum.

I'll start the bidding at 30mpg highway for my 95 and 31 in my 93. This is with the cruise set at 70-75, with hills and low mountains.

This is the mileage thread to end all mileage threads. Unfortunately it didn't.

Can we sticky this to divert all future mileage inquiries to?

I'll boast the 33.5 mpg w/spirited runs ... mostly running 75-85.. that was over 164 miles.
