So that would be ... you?

I'm just a little confused. I WAS going to add that some of the cheap oil change shops cross thread the bolt, which can be a bear to get back out and then they have to deal with a drain hole that won't seal up anymore and be held responsible for. I suspect this is why they turned you away.

Another tip, which works well for me, get an under bed storage tote from Walmart, its like 2ftx4ft, and drain ito that and then when you are all done pour it from the corner into whatever container your using.

Yes, this works very well and I use it often. got a couple of them around for that type of purpose. Also bought a cheap green 6'x9' carpet for a patio and I put that down first before working. Makes crawling around under there easier, you can find bolts/nuts/sockets easier after and to clean it off, just hose it down. Then just fold it up and put it away.

That'* a brilliant idea! That way I could catch the drainage from the oil pan AND the filter at the same time.

You're definitely right about the tranny fluid!! I can get away with a regular oil catching pan (has a spout on one corner to make it super easy to pour) but there'* no way it'd work for the trans.
