Dorman Products offers new plastic intake plenums for the 3800/Vin #L. The new design eliminates lots of the leak/blowout troubles. We keep 'em in stock at Fishers, and I believe you can get them at Parts Depot Inc. and possibly Advance.

this is about a month old post of a person who'* already replaced his plenum?

Yes, I chose to go with the re-designed Delphi plenum that the dealer told me has
been improved to be a higher heat resistant design and also can resist backfires.
The original one just explodes wide open if the car should backfire.
