The lifters come out easy. Once down to the valley you will see two plastic runners.

Once you remove the two bolts holding them on, the lifters will be right there. They are roller lifters.

The torque settings are in the tech info area under general information.

I got the rocker arms, pushrods and lifters out. Everything looks good to me. I inspected the pushrod ends for any galling etc. and for straightness but they are fine. The rocker arms all seem to be fine. The lifters I am not quite sure how to ck them for sure. One seemed that the cap inside the lifter was loose and I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned it, refilled it with oil and reassembled. It seems to be working, I invert it and the top comes down, then I push it with my finger and the oil pumps out the side hole.......? Is that proper operation?

I figure I may as well clean all of them. Or should I just buy a new set?

The noise was definitely coming from that bank when checked with my stethoscope. Sounded exactly like a loose rocker arm on a sbc. Did a lot of reading searching for lifter information on the 3800'* and saw a couple that were coming from bad cam bearings, hope that '* not my problem.

Also, I kept everything in order as per removed. Is that necessary with roller lifters to go back in the same lifter bore?

Anyways, what would the 3800 specialists do in my situation? I don't want to put this back together only to find I still have that clackity clack! Thanks

Dave

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help with my UIM/LIM project. From the right parts to buy to my "dumb" questions! Everything went well, I think more time went to cleaning things up than anything else. Took her out on the Interstate for a short run and right away noticed it had more power and held at 70mph much easier than before. I am thinking I may see a mpg increase. Anyways, thanks again guys!
