Did you replace the gasket?? Or used the old one? If it'* the old one.. it maybe torn allowing vacuum draw or air before the butterfly opening.. so thus increasing RPM.. if you smoke or have something similar.. start the car in idle @ 1500 RPM and hold the smoke around the TB.. if there'* a leak you'll see the smoke getin sucked in

That would put a damper on all the fun, wouldn't it! I nearly used starter fluid to check for leaks by spraying it on some suspicious vacuum lines and the TB gasket but figured I'd better not. My neighbors might have thought that it was leftover fireworks.
