Default trunk inflator broken

I'm sure you are sick and tired of hearing about my ratbox SSE by now, but now that the battery draining problem is fixed, and I'm waiting around to get it to the transmission shop, I've been trying to fix a ton of the little broken things on it. I just want to get my facts straight

I've been in a 92' park ave, and a 00' Bonneville recently and i could very much so hear the compressors run in them to level them, my 97' SSE seems to level itself but i have never heard the compressor run myself, should I?

does that compressor also run the trunk Inflater?

whats going on in my car is if I turn the inflater on, I hear a relay click but nothing is happening, what should I expect to be broken here?

First, we have to determine if your compressor is actually running. It should be quiet so you will have to put the key in "run" and run around to the right rear wheel and listen. the compressor should power on for a few seconds and shut off. we will go from there.

The 'relay' you hear clicking when you select ON for the inflator isn't a relay. It'* a selector valve used to direct the pressure from the struts to the inflator schrader valve.

The relay (at least on 92-95'*) is in the maxifuse relay center. I don't recall off-hand which one it is, but if someone can jump in and identify the horn relay and the ELC relay, you can swap those two, then test the inflator and the horn. This is very simple troubleshooting for the relays.

driverjohn2005 drove his 92 SSEi for 3 years with no ELC or inflator. We troubleshot the system to an $11 relay and sent him home happy. In addition, there are two fuses used for the system. On the 92, one of them is fuse 11. The other MIGHT be 25 (I don't recall, this is all from memory).

In a nutshell, possible relay, fuse, or compressor. (assuming you hear the selector 'click'.

my understanding is that the inflater diverts air from the self leveling compressor to the trunk inflater, either this car has a very quiet compressor or it is broken in some manor, however i am tempted to say it is just quiet since the car *seems* to level itself well, when i work on the car again Saturday i'll check it out.

When the inflator is on, press on the schrader valve in the trunk and see if air comes out. Better yet, put a tire gauge on it. Should get to around 70psi.

There seems to be a pattern developing on this. My SSEI inflator has never worked eithor. But I had my husband read your comments and he is going to try them.

ok with the car running i pressed the ON button and pressed on the schrader valve i got nothing, now I take this to mean that my ELC is broken?

where is the compressor for this and what are some good ways to troubleshoot the system?
