Default Transmission issue'*....Gotta manual shift to get over 2Krpm

94 pontiac bonneville.... n/a.... When its hot outside, and the car is warmed up, it wont rev over 2K in drive.... even if you floor it, it shifts under 2K..... if you stick it in low you can get it to redline..... when its colder outside, it gets deep into rpms like it should before shifting at wot....

the service engine light is on also.... havent had time to fool with it till now (its a nieghbors car) I know it needs a tune up, and tranny fluid/filter flush.... But I know there is something else wrong, not just old fluid....

How do you think I go about to tackle the problem?

Thanks, Andrew...

for you check engine light, there is most likley a transmission code indicating a problem. Scan your powertrain computer and see what code you come up with and go from there. It sounds like its too late for a trans flush.

We went to get it scanned and they said the harness isnt right under the dash and isnt reading the ecu at all.............. someone had a phone wired in.... and aftermarket fog lights.... and the radio doesnt work, when you hit recall, the time comes up, but you cant set it..... so I dunno whats up :(

Anyway I can read the codes manually or something?

It'* a 94, it uses the OBD 2 connector, but is OBD 1. Many places will confuse it with a full OBD 2 computer, and will scan for that.
