Thanks for the replies and various thoughts. If I replace the rim, can I replace just one tire or do I have to replace both rears?

If it is the rim (wheel) that is leaking, then there should be no need to replace either tire. Just mount the old tire on the new wheel and see if the leak is gone. Like Don says, if it'* bent anyway, you haven't lost anything by replacing it.
