Default Throttle Body and MAF questions

Took the TB off today for a good cleaning. Car is running great but I figured it needed a cleaning after 107,000 miles. It was pretty dirty. Anyway, I have several questions. First, look at the picture of the MAF elements. Is that thickness in the middle of the two elements carbon build-up or is it supposed to be like that? I can’t tell from looking at it. Secondly, after cleaning the spring and nose of the IAC, do you lubricate it by just oiling the $hit out of the nose and spring? Thanks in advance. BTW, I broke one of the torx screws holding the IAC. Twisted right off. It looks like maybe someone had some lok-tite on the threads.

Looks like sound proofing sprayed on there!
