Default t-stat gasket

93 bonny, not supercharged. Is that rubber seal that goes around the t-stat all you need to seal the housing? Or do you need a gasket between the intake manifold and the housing in addition to the rubber seal? I've seen it both ways, and I've seen it with permatex without the gasket... Mike

You need a gasket between the manifold and the housing also.

The parts store will refer to the paper gasket as the thermostat housing gasket. If you just ask for a thermostat gasket, you'll get the rubber seal. Ask me how I know

You should get the paper gasket and the seal. I believe they quit using the paper gasket in the 00+ applications.

The last time I put one in my 97 SSE i just used the rubber seal. The part guy says that'* all you need. He was right. No leaks, works just fine.
