Default Stuttering during acceleration

I've recently notice some stuttering during eary acceleration in both the 97 SE and 96 LeSabre. The car still accelerates it is just a bit jerkey. It doesn't happen if I put the pedal down though...

Any ideas?

I had the same thing, I recommend cleaning your throttle body first and see what happens, it'* found in TECHINFO, I'll link you to it.

Quick...park your other car(*) in the road....it'* contaigous.

If both started doing it at the same time.. I might think it'* fuel related if they are filled from the same gas station at about the same times.

Otherwise..start off like Cody mentions with TB cleaning and tune ups.

more of a stutter or hesitation, the car still accelerates but it lurches... Mainly over 50 mph...

90% of the time, that will be ignition (spark) related.

Yeah, I need to change the plugs, would 605s be a good choice for a bit of increased performance?

If your plugs are bad now, 605s (one heat-range cooler than stock) would be great, or any decent plug for that matter. You'll definitely see an improvement. Also think about your plug wires too.

Any stuttering during acceleration I've ever had was ignition related, and new plugs/wires fixed it. Hopefully that'* all you need though.

Yeah, it doesn't do it when I push the pedal down though (or I can't feel it). Planning to change the fuel filter as well...

Edit: I monitored the Tach on the drive today, during the stuttering, the Tach jumped around while it was stuttering between 2500 and 2750...

hey Kimbo, Let me know what you find cures the problem. I have a 96 SSEi that stutters under slow acelleration from a stop. If you put your foot into it it feels normal. It also stalls out of the blue about once or twice a week but starts great and runs smoothly.
I have cleamed up the battery terminals, cleaned and checked the ingition coils, cleaned all connectors I can find on the engine, replaced the crank sensor and checked and replaced all vacuum fittings, and replaced fuel filter. Plug wires and plugs are about 1 year old and good. No trouble light shows on the dash.
