Default Strut Noise

Hey all, it'* been a while...
I have a creaking sound coming from the right front strut. It happens when it'* cold (<30 degrees) and I'm turning sharply or going over bumps. I took off the black cover and found this. Does it all look normal? What are all of these holes for?
For those wondering - the other side looks exactly the same.

Top-down view, with holes circled.

Here you can see the ground through the space.

May just be the type of strut that is there. Different brands will fit a little different.

Yes it'* normal, like Dan says it'* a type u have. Push on the front bumper shake the car up as violent as u can and see if u hear anything similar? Beside the noise one shaking stops the car should bounce right back up and stay there asap. Longer it bouces up and down by itself the badder ur shocks r. U might want someone to do it while ur in it. If it won't do it and only does it on turns as u said, then I suggest u look into ur drive shafts. U mention clicking cracking but unfort alot of things could do that. On making turns howevere usually the input shaft bearings, those which hidden behind thr rubber boot, goes bad. Let us know what u found.
