Default strut noise

I've got a 2005 Lesabre. When the car is on jacks, engine not running. I turn the steering wheel, right or left, I get a moaning noise in the top of both stuts. Both directions. It moans through the whole travel of the wheel. I guess you would say the stut mount area. Sounds kinda like maybe rubber. Not sure though. I don't notice it at all when driving. I'm trying to isolate the dreaded Lesabre vibrations. Just wondering if this is a normal noise in a static condition, engine off. I've turned the steering on other cars I've had jacked, and don't remember hearing this noise. Hoping someone can shed some light on my question.

Sounds like a worn/dry bushing at the top of the strut.

Thanks, So looks like I may need some strut bushings/mounts at the least. Do you think this could contribute to the 60+mph vibration I'm chasing? I purchased this car in Ga., but it had been in Wisconsin until this year. Since 2005.

I doubt it. Vibration usually involves something that rotates like a rotor, wheel, tire etc.

i wouldnt worry about it, things touching when jacked up whill make noise but i doubt it will at ride height. you cant really trouble shoot any suspension components with it jacked up, you should try ramps or putting it on jack stands that are right under the lower ball joint to simulate the load on components

Thanks. I don't think I will worry right now. I just never remember hearing a moan like that on any previous vehicles I've had in the air, and turn the wheel. Anyway I'm too busy fighting this 60+ Lesabre vibration issue. Got brand new Symmetrys on. Helped at low speeds. But have the 60+ vibe everyone talks about. Think I'm gonna start another thread on that issue.

Are these Monroe Quick Struts? They had a known issue with the rubber
at the top of strut seperating from the metal and making noise.

Not sure if there Monroe. I think they're original equipment. My sister has a 2001 Lesabre. Eventually I'm going to see if hers moan statically. I was just curious if they may cause my vibration at hwy speeds.

Have someone check the balance of the tires, I hear lots of complaints from people around 60-65 and a lot of the time it'* the tires and wheels out of balance.
