Default Strange tranny problem

This has been going on for a while, but for some reason around 60-70 MPH, if I leave off the gas and just slow down without the brake, the RPMs will slowly creep down below 1K then suddenly downshift into above 3K in the lesser gear. It'* like the tranny is taking it'* sweet time to downshift, or even skipping the downshift into a middle gear, then essentially going from 4 to 2 for instance without hitting 3 first.

Shouldn't be downshifting at all unless you're manually doing it with the shifter?

It'* an auto. It will shift on it'* own. But the downshift does not seem to be correct in the region of 60-70mph.

I know I shift to third at 68-73 at WOT... that'd be your 3-2 shift being a weirdo. Unless it doesn't shift down until you're at like 35mph, it'* not hitting first.

ah well, it just seems to drop RPMs too much before it goes back to 2 then. I will ignore it then. 8)

i think this is a bonneville thing, my 92 se does that from about 80 or 90. when it drops way down to around to 1000 rpms i give it a quick tap of gas and then the rpms jump back up and stay normal
