Right, because it'* not their car, so what do they care?

Okay, to be fair, if I'm reading your post right, this was to check out the car _before_ you bought it, so I guess it would have been good to see an imminent failure then, not after the money changed hands, but it'* still not real... scientific, or something... to do that to an engine. Doesn't prove a whole lot except that it'* Not Broke Yet...

I can think of a reason........ Big drinking party+1987 pontiac 2.8l v-6 strait piped (with blown transmission no use for it) = Alot of fun tring to blow the engine and smashing it up with a 1980 Ford F-350

BTW couldn't blow the engine held it to the floor for along time tach was maxed out for along time after 8k rpms it just kept getting highrt till the engine couldn't take nemore gas (good engine ^_^)

How 'bout just driving along @ 65 mph, minding your own business?

Was back in... I dunno, 1979 or thereabouts, a bunch of us in a 1969 Ford Cortina (British-built U.*. import) heading up I-65 in Indiana someplace, just putzing along on a nice sunny day, and suddenly *POW*rattle-rattle-rattle-rattle-rattle... and we coasted down to the side of the interstate. Turned out the engine threw a rod, big-time; if I recall right, it punched a hole in the block. Car was 10 years old at the time and I'm pretty sure nobody bothered to fix it afterwards...
