It Is not the vats system I Bypassed it when I put my remote start Alarm in. I Know this Becuse my security light does what it all ways does turns on right when the key is first turn stay on a min. then goes out. I tryed beat on the starter and still nothing. Yes when I said I turned on my lights I Ment thay were not diming as if it where my bat. I took It to a shop and thay said my Shifter was bad and maybe my Ing. Cyl. Might be out. I have had Problems with my shifter in the past not being able to get my key out. But just push it a little more in to park and the key comes out fine I've owned the car for a year now and It has allways done this. when I got into it that morning It was fine.I don't understand why All of a sudden It went out. Thanks for all the help.

I have seen this issue on one other car. The entire shifter assembly went bad and I believe I picked one up at a junkyard for about $30. As well..the shifter boot (leather) can get bunched up and cause the shifter to be slightly misaligned, causing the column not to release the key.
