Default Starting out in second gear/ long term harm?

So my shift solenoid A is shorted. It is an old high mile car, not worth the cost/ labor to have trans dropped. i can start out in second and it shifts to 3rd fine, etc. My question is long term how hard is it on the trans if I ease away from stops in second?

Your trans already needs a re-build. Drive it until it dies.

Your going to prematurely wear out the 2nd clutch packs. But as Roy already said, drive it till she dies.

Other concern too is increased stress/heat on torque converter, but I concur,

Rock it 'til it drops.
