Recently, my 92 has developed a starting issue. Upon cold start, it will rev to 1500 or so, then rev down... and die if I don't give it a little gas. It won't try again, typically. I've just replaced the plugs and crank sensor for other issues. Those didn't seem to affect it at all. I've adjusted the AFC... no good. Multimetered the wires, all good there. Maybe my MSD coils? ICM? ... what do ya think?

I have the EXACT same problem, and I have a '92 ssei. I'm hoping a tune-up will do it.

did you clean/check the idle air controller?

I installed a clean TB (with fresh electronics) a couple months ago, so I'm leaning away from the IAC still.

I like to check coil resistance & the condition of the spark plugs. It'* free & can quickly eliminate most of the ignition problems. It bothered me that you heard a scraping noise after replacing the crank sensor. The sensor needs to be centered between the rings on the harmonic balancer. Check for vacuum leaks.

I installed the plugs about 9 days ago. This problem exsisted before the new crank sensor and its behavior is unchanged.

I would also tend to think this problem more on the side of being fuel related (fpr maybe). When idle down from 1500, how long is the time duration before stall?

Was the MAF part of the new electronics with the throtle body replacement?
