Unhappy stalling out when starting it up in the morning

When I go to start it up first thing in the morning...it wants to stall out and I have to keep pumping the gas to try and keep it going...it pops and backfires ( or thats what it sounds like). after about 2-3 minutes, it will stay running throughout the day but when driving and having to stop then taking off again, it doesnt seem to want to go.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What year and model?

Almost sounds like a tune up or fuel pressure.

Unhappy year and model

Its a 1993 Pontiac bonneville SE...some people say maybe the fule pump? some say O2 censor? I am very confused, lol. I just dont want to put a whole lot of money in the car unless I have to as I guess most people wouldnt.
It also just passed inspection about 3 weeks ago?

Ok, well we can kind of rule out the O2 sensor if it is hard starting and stalls right off. The O2 sensor doesn't come into play for say 20 or so seconds.

Let'* aim you to test the fuel pressure and go from there. It'* pretty common with enough years and mileage.

Default stalling out when starting

That was actually my first thought...my best friend actually suggested it. But we are also not "car smart", lol. I just think it might have something to do with it not getting enough fuel when starting up?
I think my husband is going to the auto parts store and getting a fuel filter and an air filter...it needs to be badly changed as well. Someone else mentioned getting some throttle spray or something to loosen up the gunk around the air filter? Do you have any idea what he is talking about?
Thank you for your hewlp

That sounds like a really good idea also...I researched how to do this and I have to say I am a little freaked out, LOL...it mentioned having a fire extinguisher close by? Yikes...is it really that dangerous to do it? maybe I should bring it to a dealer and have that tested?
Thank you for this advice...I am going to find out how much it will cost to have that done.

Sounds like you just need someone to do a basic tune-up and to check fuel, air, and spark. How long has it been since a tune-up was done? Are you getting a check engine light once it'* running?

We just recently about a month ago changed the spark plugs and about a week ago we changed the air filter...we definitely need to have a tune-up done on it because it has been awhile and I am hoping that a fuel filter change may do the trick.
I really appreciate everyone'* input...it really has helped alot.
