AIR RIDE?
If you have (or had) the auto level control, not sure if that'* what you are talking about, then replacing the air struts with regular struts will cause the car to be low unless it is completely empty of all people, crap in trunk, and fuel. There is always a minimum air charge in those, which has lifting ability.
Otherwise, struts do not raise the car, they only dampen movement. Brand new gas-charged struts have upward pressure on them, but lets face it, if you can lean on them and collaps them, which you can do, how much can they lift? 30 pounds each? If you never had air adjustable struts, then you have other issues.. like the springs are wrong, worn out, or you have missing parts. Also, if you have the camber way wrong after your strut swap, the wheels will be tilted inward at the top, and therefore due to the geometry of the rear suspension these cars it will sit low. Mike

You did what?
Hard to understand your post.. You shoved old chunks of steel somewhere in the rear suspension and held it in place with electrical tape? Wow..
A cheap and easy fix is to put in aftermarket air adjustable struts, then you'll have a fill valve to raise or lower the back end, via air. Kinda like poor man'* level ride.. Which would be a fine fix if you are disabling your factory air level ride, but not the way to go if you have other problems somewhere. Mike

Monroe
Sensatrac
what i'm saying is my original adjustable struts in the rear were leaking, so i went and got some Sensatrac struts and doing away with the leveling system. my compressor was not pumping the car up any more because the struts were leaking so in turn my compressor STB (558.00 at the dealer) that i'm not going to buy. so i say "ok, time for me to install some regularr stuts". what i was asking , being as though i have regular struts in my car now, that car is still sitting too low. i might need new springs also and it'* xtra xtra sqeaky with every bump and dip from the back...maybe i have the springs for gas adjustable struts and not regular springs or just maybe worn ones..... do spings wear like that away?...

Not sure..
I'm not sure if the springs are different if you have air level ride.. My gut tells me that you probably do. I have level ride in my Olds 88, and just for the fun of it I purged the system of all the air, and she was sitting a little low, but not bad. But it would have settled down a lot if I had my children in the back and some groceries. The squeak needs to be addressed, but, you could have put in Monroe air struts, along with the manual fill kit (consists of a hose, some connectors and a fill valve) and then adjusted the air pressure as you want. I did this on my other Olds 88, worked great, but manually changing the air pressure could be a pain, I eneded up keeping one of those tiny 12-volt compressors in my trunk, so I could adjust wherever I was. the elc is a component of the ride system, if you remove it, this is what happens. You would need to get the springs from a non-elc system and replace your current rear springs.
compressors can be gotten alot cheaper at the junkyards, but since you already replaced the struts with non air assist, you'll have to go the change rear springs route.

Well, there you go...
... there'* your answer. You need to get springs, place a want ad here, I'm sure someone has a set laying around. Or, maybe you could get your local parts store to consider your new struts as "bad out of the box" and take them back, and get the air struts like I mentioned before. Or, maybe someone on this forum would want your nearly new struts. It looks like more work / money for you, sorry about that..

ELC is a calculated part of the rear suspension. Your car will also not handle right. I suggest you put ELC struts back in and replace the compressor with a used (wrecker) unit.
