When I have the front driver'* wheel turned left there is a sqeaking noise coming from there.. I replaced the brake pads and rotors and I took the wear indicator off the pads. The noise just really irritates me. Anyone have any thoughts..?

1. Put the wear indicators back, or you'll destroy your rotors in a couple years.

2. Did you use pad lube on the backs of the new pads?

1. I check my brakes every so often so I can tell when my pads are needing replaced or not.

Pad lube is a step we all perform when doing front disc brakes.

You apply it to the back side of the pad where it contacts the caliper and piston.

Some pads come with a shim added, or have a special coating on the back of the pad to dampen the vibrations. Some work better than others. The wear indicators should not cause any noise until the pads are worn enough to become a problem.

I'd call that high temp silicon adhesive...not Lube. LOL

I find it to be very dissimilar to silicone.

idk, that crc red stuff, is similar to rtv when it dries. ive never had good luck with it.

personally i would recomend the black lube. it usually comes in lil 2 packs, or tubes. look for 1-molybedum, and 2- high, temp, then your good.

I've never needed it on the wifes Olds, but it worked great on quite a few of my other cars & is a must, imo, on the F150.


Will - That CRC stuff might not be silicon but it certainly isn't lube. I'm curious as to what you were refering as 'brake lube'?

Never use anything that isn't specifically stated as brake pad lube (for the BACKS of the pads).

I've never had a problem with CRC. In fact, I have a rather large BOTTLE of it that I use on every brake job for myself or friends.

Don't confuse this with caliper pin grease.
