I didn't want to wait to order anything so I went with the Wells coil from Autozone. $21 later, she'* purring well. What a load off of my mind. It was inexpensive enough just to get it anyway. When and if I upgrade, I'll keep it as a spare for testing.

Not true in all cases. The 97+ GTP/SSEi coils are equally as 'hot' as the MSD 8224 coils. All others are NOT. In this case, Randman may have felt a slight improvement in mid-rpm band performance by switching to them, but it'* barely above the 'detection threshold'.

The MSD coils are the same price as the OEM 97+ coils.
