AC Problems
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do about my air conditioning problem? No matter what mode I turn the air conditioning on, no air will come out of the vents facing the driver. Air always comes out of the vents by the windshield and the vents by the driver'* feet, but it will not come out of the vents facing the driver and passenger. I checked the fuses, and they all look fine. Any suggestions?

I'm sure someone will respond to your question, but I recommend doing a search under this topic because there has been multiple posts on this issue. I'm highjacking your thread, however, because I'm experiencing the same problem and was troubleshooting this a couple of days ago. My question is how do you get the plastic engine cover off. I see where it is retained in back but the oil filler extension appears to be holding it in place in the front. How do you remove the extension?
Thanks

1996 Bonneville SE, White, tan leather, 16" wheels, 72XXX miles. As a prophylactic measure, I have already had the intake plenum and gaskets, as recommended by the experts on the site, replaced. "Bonnie" is a real beauty that has always been garaged, and I bought her from my mother. She had to buy a Buick Lucerne this time because of discontinuation of the Bonneville.
Thanks

If you mention the year you have, we can fix you up in a jiffy.
Edit: Took it upon myself to get it together for whatever year.
92-95, Looking at the firewall of the engine bay there is a black plastic container next to the windshield wiper motor. This is the vacuum canister for the HVAC actuators. Ensure the vacuum line is plugged in and there are no cracks in the canister.
96-99, A bit more detailed and comes with a couple links.
Test: Pull the passengerside footwell hush panel and find the purple vacuum line. Test this line with the vehicle running for vacuum. If no vacuumis present, locate the vacuum canister under the passenger front fender and check from there to the engine and firewall. Find all vacuum leaks until you have vacuum inside at the purple hose.
If you have vacuum there is a long thread about this and how to test various components. Probably the most detailed thread about this type of problem ever.

The typical fix is documented at this link. Replacing small pieces of the vacuum hoses where connections were previously made corrects a collapsed nipple issue.
