Shift-Lock Release Button
I have an 01 SLE. Does anyone know if there is a shift release button somewhere so I can shift the car without the key in the ignition?

Unlike some other cars such as honda, in a honda you can manually take it out of park with the key, but thats with out the ignition turned on. Maybe GM has a way we dont know about....
I suppose I could just pull the fuse for the chimes, but then I'd likely kill the lighting too which is helpful.

If you want just all your accessories on with the door open without that chime.. all I did was turn the key back to acc. position and slowly turn it back to off while pulling the key out. There is a little sweet spot that allows the key to be released and yet be in accessories mode where you can leave the radio on, operate all electronics ( minus the climate ), and have the door open without that annoying chime.
