according to the diagram i have the switch should put a ground on the gray/bl wire when the lights are turned on

the switch is most common. the drawing i had said you have the light module which can go bad but its less common. seeing how you are having a few problems i wonder if the light module ground and your tdm ground are at the same point under the dash, and are bad. some of them i dont remember which years off hand had a ground bus under the carpet on the door side of driver seat. that area is really bad for corrosion

I checked the ground bus under the driver seat and it looks pretty clean...no corrosion or discoloration of the ground bus at all

I also have no dimmer lights on the dashboard. they don't come on either

no I haven't cause I was unaware the switch could cause these problems. I was too busy checking the lights,grounds, and wires leading to the bus. How do I checked the switch and what do I look for?
