Default Security light

On the 95 SSEi, on occasion I see the yellow security light illuminated in the dash. I assume it tells me that the function is working. What is it really for, is there an alarm system, or some sort of security system on these cars? I've never heard an alarm before on this car.

IIRC, security light is mainly a function of the VATS system and not a function of the alarm. You should see the light upon each start-up and when shutting off the car, usually flashing. If it remains on while driving, it is a sign of an issue

Well I tried just about everything to get the alarm to go off but it just won't do it. I checked the horn to see if it was working and it does.

What can I trouble shoot to figure out why the alarm doesn't work on this Bonne?

i think you've got to get the codes read while the security light is on....otherwise if there'* another way, i'd like to know it...i've had the security light constantly illuminated while i drive or while the key is just on...if someone can tell me how to do without a code reader, please say

Last time the codes were read, nothing pertained to the security features. The security light don't stay on while I'm driving therefore I had no idea I had a problem with the alarm. Are there people on this forum that have a 95 SSEi with the alarm feature where as the alarm goes off when needed?
