Hi guys, I have another problem. On my 93 Bonnie my security light comes on from time to time and prevents me from starting my car. I have to leave the key in the on position and start the car from up under and that REALLY embrassing seeing how im in school. You guys know the saying... THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!!!!! But for real what could this be and how can i fix this problem.

the key might be at fault. Your car has what GM calls VATS. the chip in your key has a resistance that the car needs to see. my guess it that the key is dirty and needs to be cleaned with some alchol with a Q tip. If you have another key you might wnat to look into that

the ignition cylinder may be dirty too.

how do i clean the ign cylinder

clean the key, put it in, then clean the key again, and repeat the process till the qtip is not showing any dirt.
