Default Security

Ok, i got a 94 SE. I had run the car for a solid 20 minutes and i parked it. I left my neons on and went inside wendeys(yum). I came back out to show a friend my new wires and painted intake so i unlocked the doors then popped the hood showed him then closed it. 2 minutes later i went into the car and attempted to start it. I got noting, not even an attempt. I see the security light on. I was confused so i decided to wait a couple minutes to see if it went off. It did, and the car started fine. I was thinking mabye its that ghetto alloy on the key...but i was wondering if anyone else can tell me what might be triggering that security light to not let my car start? thanks

if not your vehicle needs service

*summed up from 92 toronado/ trofeo owners manual

**also if the message comes on while your driving do not turn engine off, drive it to place where you can have your vehicle serviced

If it was a one0time occurence, it might have been a little dust in the ignition tumbler, preventing the vats module from 'reading' the resistor pellet correctly. Getting a little canned air sprayed in there might be a good idea, or try to get a cotton swab with alcohol in there to clean the contacts.

If it happens again, let us know.
