Going up the grade from Vallejo to Fairfield (is the Wren place still there? The little restaurant on the left side going that direction?)

Sounds like your issues are in a low gear under load. VERY much ignition related. Either plugs or wires, but coils COULD be an issue. Most stumbling issues under load (95% or so) are ignition related. Rod Rounds has had his share (he may still be running plugs and or wires from here last summer).

Give us more info. Low gear under load on a hill? That'* what I have so far.

I am speaking of the long grade thru American Canyon. Usually hit it at around 75 mph and am lugging in about a half mile or so. If I tap the brakes and get the TCC unlocked it goes over the grade just fine. Coils are new Delco . New wires and plugs. Gets 27 mpg at 90% freeway.

I know it. Good grade, too.

Ignition problems are very commonly observed in those conditions. I'd really like to see all 6 plugs pulled and get a good pic of them.

How old are the plugs and wires, and what brand are they?

I had bought an ACTRON Pocket Scan Code Reader from Autozone for my 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE. I know the scan tool was for 1996 and newer cars, but the clerk recommended it to me and when I use it, it keeps saying NO LINK! I need to find out what is the best scan tool out there, preferably one that doesn't break the bank?

Milkman, please start your own topic. You have a very different car and PCM, and a different set of issues.
