This stumped me when I was doing my lower intake gaskets. Check out intake runner #1:

To me, that looks like runner #1 has been sucking down coolant. But that doesn't make any sense to me, seeing as i've never seen nor heard of a S1 upper plenum leaking coolant. So the question I pose to you is: what the heck is with the color and lack of carbon in runner #1??
One thing to throw into the mix, the throttle body looked like it had been swallowing a lot of oil, which i can only assume came from possible over-oiling of my K&N.

So if I had been ingesting large quantities of K&N filter oil, and for some reason it was going into onlycylinder #1 runner, shouldn't that cause excessive carbon versus no carbon?? Hence the reason I do not believe that over-oiling can be attributed to this lower intake. So why the strange intake runner???

I've never had the */C off of an l27 to know how those two upper intakes differ (other than the obvious, like the swirling fins and the whoosh noise). I'll need someone else to chime in on how possible this is. I don't see it as possible, because the only place coolant flows in the S1 upper intake is around the throttle body, through the two ports you see on the right side of my lower intake.
I can't really see how it would be missing all the other ports unless the LIM gasket went. A waterjacket may be leaking to the port then.
And too much of that K&N oil will kill the maf sensor.

And the LIM gasket, even at 256K, looked great. No tears, leaks, soft spots...nothing.
Here'* the LIM at port #1. For whatever good it might do to somebody.

Your pics sure look like coolant injestion to me.
