If any one can be of help on describing the ease of replacementof the rear transmission mount on the passenger side of a 94 SE, I'd sure appreciate it. The rear most bushin in the mount is deteriorated.

Thanks,

Mike

Default Replacing Transmission Mount

That'* a pretty accurate description. It sits on the passenger side just to the rear of the oil filter location. The body of the link looks like a cast or forged steel arm (about 6" long) narrower in the middle that it is at the ends where a large diameter (2") steel tube is welded at each end. Inside the tube is a large rubber bushing. The bushing in the tube at the forward end of the dog bone mount looks OK but the bushing in the rear tube is getting pretty deteriorated.

It look pretty straightforward to replace if I support the tranny and I thought that since I've got to jack up the motor and tranny to remove the motor mount so I can replace the water pump, I'd replace the bushing then.

If anyone has a bushing part number, that would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

Default My expierience with the dogbone mount

I replaced the dog-bone tranny mount on my 93 sse, it was easier to remove both the brackets that the dogbone are attached to, then take the upper and lower bolt out of the dogbone, and put the new dogbone mount in, then, with brackets on each end, put back in thier places. The reason being, my top nut and bolt going through the dog-bone could not be taken out due to a limit on room, through trial and error I learned this lesson, But ir that is the case for, you will recognize the problem early on, and save the skin on your knuckles.

Thanks for reply. Dir you have to purchase the hole dogbone mount or were you able to just replace the bushings?

From the sound of it, it doesn't look too difficult. You wouldn't happen to have recorded the part number(*) and do you remember where you got it from.

Did you have to put a jack under the tranny or were you able to remove the mount without having to support the tranny?

Thanks.

Replaced the mount last night. Not real bad. Just some very tight bolts to break loose. Thanks for the tips.
