I have another problem which is a heavily leaking brake line. It'* on the passenger side in front of the right rear wheel, at a bend. After some research I'd like to know if I have listed everything I will need:

Flaring tool (~$40) rent?
Tube cutter (Home Depot best bet?)
roll of 3/16" brake tubing (or pre bent?)
7/32 drill bit to deburr the inside
file for outside

Anything else? Where do I get the nuts? I found a couple webpages showing pics of the process and if I have time I may do this myself. If not hopefully I can find someone to replace the broken area.

also, what are the best fitting to use when replacing a section of brake line?

What about the type of fitting that goes into the brakes and ABS module, etc.

i like pre-made lines and useing union'* to connect to pieces together

You probably don't need the drill bit. Most files have a pointed end where your hand goes..that'* to clean the inside of a tube.

I am curious about pre-made lines too, and if they come with fittings. I did some searching and found that it may be hard to get the right size replacement line for the section you want to replace...unless I am mistaken. It seems to be only one small area and I'd like to replace the minimum amount possible. I'd prefer a pre-bent section to match.

I don't need a 25' roll of line so spending money on that much would really be a waste.

Well on my old Car my dad and i did all the brake line our selves... it wasn;t to hard to do, just takes some time.. Its best to do a Dubble Flare but as my dad found out its hard to do that with out slipttling the Tube...

So we just did a singal Flare... Thats what we also did to fix my one back spot on my bonne. doesn;t leak one bit

I replaced the right rear brake line on the 89 last year. The line on that car just went from the wheel cylinder to about half way to the master cylinder. Guess it was 4-5 feet long. I removed the old line & carefully measured the length, then went to Advance bringing both end connectors with me. If I recall correctly the longest line they had was 3 feet long so they set me up with two lines & a union to join the two. I'm terrible at remembering the prices of things but think each line was under $10 & the union was around $5. You'll also need the tool (around $5) for bending the line without kinking it.
