But I too am wondering how long it would take to replace a knock sensor on a 3.8...

Yeah the sensor is on the back of the block, and it just unscrews, you should be able to get a socket on it for removal and replacement, it will have a single wire connected to it... The one thing that stikes me as odd is that I have pretty much never seen a knock sensor go bad... Anything is possible these days... Good luck and let us know if the knock sensor gets rid of that code 43
