I'm considering adding a amp and speakers to mine, but don't want to stress the alternator, any recommendations for *affordable* replacement alternators that will give me a bit more room?

I'm running his 160amp. He also has a 200 amp. It'* an improved rear-bearing design, and should solve the problems with the OEM alternators.

in my case, a 4 channel amp just running interior speakers didn't cause any electrical drain

BTW i'm running a 500watt max alpine with 4ga wiring to it.

It'* probably more important for an SSE or SSEi to upgrage the alternator, considering the extra gizmo'*.

Best thing to do is watch the drain. Keep an eye on your battery gauge with the system pounding, and the headlights on. Climate control on high fan. How much does it drop?

I installed a DP alt last night on smellbirds car with him. It was pretty easy, just look at it, and pull it out. The one hting was the bolt around the tensioner pulley we didn't see at first.

I was burning thru stock alts avery 6 months. I then got the DP 200 amp alt (I was planning a system at the time) and it has been trouble free ever since (year or two at least).

I got the system now too. I need a Cap in my system bad but the alt never lets the battery go down.. not even just a little bit.

I would recommend a 160 (or a 200) amp alt for anyone with a system.
